Region: Napa Valley, California
Varietal: 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, 6% Petit Verdot and 4% Malbec
Tasting Notes: A bouquet of incense and balsamic interwoven with blackberry, blueberry and hints of truffle and camphor, this wine is full-bodied, opulent and voluptuously textured, with an intensely satisfying mid-palate, depth and richness. Primary notes of blackberry, olive tapenade, and creme de cassis soar to impressive high tone hints of pipe tobacco and truffles. This show-stopper hits the palate with a silky opulence, and marvelous, full-bodied power, but it is light on its feet, with superb delineation, vibrancy, and freshness.
Producer: Eisele Vineyard is one of Napa Valley's historic sites, first planted in the 1880s in the northeastern part of the valley near Calistoga, backed by the Palisades Mountain range. Known as a pioneer for Cabernet Sauvignon in Napa, Eisele has been celebrated for producing wines with exceptional depth, elegance, and longevity. The vineyard gained prestige with its first Eisele-labeled release in 1971, solidifying its reputation as one of Napa’s premier terroirs. Over time, Eisele Vineyard has been a source for iconic wines, celebrated by vintners and collectors alike for showcasing the unique attributes of its soil and climate.
Vineyard & Winemaking: In terms of winemaking, Eisele Vineyard is committed to sustainable practices, having farmed organically since 1998 and biodynamically since 2000. The focus remains on expressing the land’s natural character through minimal intervention, allowing the vineyard’s unique terroir to shine in each vintage. The team emphasizes intellectual rigor and respect for the land, aiming to produce wines that authentically represent Eisele Vineyard’s storied history and potential.
