Tasting Notes: The Chiroubles 2021 from Domaine S. Charvet is a bright, expressive Beaujolais wine that embodies the purity of the Chiroubles appellation. On the nose, it reveals delicate aromas of red cherries, strawberries, and subtle floral notes, particularly violet. The palate is fresh and lively, with a silky texture and vibrant acidity that accentuates the wine’s red fruit core. A light minerality adds depth, while the finish is clean and refreshing. This is a wine that impresses with its elegance and precision, perfect for early drinking.
Producer: Domaine S. Charvet has been a family-run estate for six generations in Chiroubles, Beaujolais. In 2010, Steeve Charvet joined his father Armand to carry on the family tradition, which has been passed from father to son for over a century. Under Steeve's leadership, the winery continues to honor its heritage while embracing modern practices, producing wines that reflect both tradition and the unique terroir of the region.
Vineyard & Winemaking: The estate covers 8 hectares of vineyards, where Steeve Charvet practices sustainable viticulture. The grapes are hand-harvested, and winemaking focuses on minimal intervention to express the authenticity of the land. Fermentation uses indigenous yeasts, and aging occurs in concrete tanks or old Burgundy barrels, emphasizing the purity and character of the Gamay grapes typical of Beaujolais. The wines are crafted to showcase the elegance and vibrant fruitiness of the Chiroubles appellation.
