Tasting Notes: The 2022 Domaine Ballot-Millot Aligoté showcases Burgundy’s often-overlooked white grape, known for its bright acidity and mineral-driven character. Traditionally used in Kir cocktails, Aligoté has gained recognition for producing elegant, terroir-expressive wines when carefully cultivated. Ballot-Millot’s 2022 vintage is crisp and precise, with vibrant acidity and a distinct limestone minerality. Aged in stainless steel to preserve freshness, it offers a pure, structured profile that makes it a refreshing alternative to Chardonnay, perfect for seafood, goat cheese, or as an aperitif.

Producer: Domaine Ballot-Millot, established in 1630, is a historic family-owned estate located in Meursault, Burgundy. Now in its 17th generation, the domaine is led by Charles Ballot, who assumed control in 2000. Under his guidance, the estate has flourished, expanding its holdings to over 10 hectares and producing approximately 20 cuvées, with half classified as Premier Cru. Charles's dedication to both tradition and innovation has elevated the domaine's reputation, particularly for its expressive and refined white wines.

Vineyard & Winemaking: The 2022 Aligoté from Domaine Ballot-Millot showcases the estate's commitment to quality and terroir expression. Aligoté, Burgundy's 'other' white grape, is cultivated in vineyards characterized by limestone-rich soils, which impart a distinctive minerality to the wine. Charles Ballot employs minimal intervention techniques, allowing the grape's natural acidity and fruit profile to shine. This approach results in a vibrant and refreshing wine that reflects both the varietal's heritage and the domaine's meticulous vineyard management.
