Tasting Notes: This absolutely charming red is a medium-bodied wine with a bright ruby color and an expressive, Garnacha-forward aroma. On the nose, it displays aromas of ripe red fruits, such as cherries and raspberries, alongside spice notes of black pepper and vanilla. On the palate, the wine is elegant and well-structured, with a smooth texture and a balanced acidity. The flavors of red fruit and spices continue on the palate, with additional hints of tobacco and leather that add complexity to the wine. The tannins are firm yet silky, accompanied by a refreshing acidity that provides balance and length to the finish. This is a delicious and approachable wine that showcases the Muga family's winemaking expertise and the unique terroir of Rioja.

Producer: Bodegas Muga, an emblem of tradition in Rioja, Spain, was founded in 1932 in the historic Haro Station District, an area renowned for some of the most iconic wine producers in Spain. Bodegas Muga has maintained its independence as a family-owned estate, managed today by the third generation of the Muga family. The winery is deeply committed to traditional Rioja winemaking methods, including handcrafting their barrels on-site, a rarity in modern winemaking. This hands-on approach allows them to stay true to their heritage while infusing each bottle with a sense of place and authenticity. El Andén de la Estación Crianza, named after the Haro train station, is a tribute to the winery's roots and connection to Rioja’s historical wine exportation hub.

Vineyard & Winemaking: Bodegas Muga’s vineyards are scattered across the high-altitude foothills of the Obarenes Mountains, where Rioja’s limestone-rich soils and temperate climate create ideal conditions for cultivating Tempranillo and Garnacha. The El Andén de la Estación Crianza 2021 is crafted from estate-grown Tempranillo, which brings structure and depth, and Garnacha, adding vibrant fruit notes. Muga’s careful use of oak—aging the wine in their custom-made barrels—adds subtle spice and complexity while preserving the fresh fruit character. The wine is both approachable and refined, showcasing Muga’s dedication to crafting wines that celebrate Rioja’s heritage and terroir.
