Tasting Notes: The nose expresses delicate red fruited tones with hints of black cherries, a slight spiciness and a beautiful minerality. The palate is vigorous, with a balanced body and fresh aftertaste. Of great persistence.
Producer: Alois Lageder has become synonymous with a meticulous, terroir-focused approach in Alto Adige, Italy, where the family has been crafting wines since 1823. Now led by Alois Lageder, the sixth generation, the estate is a pioneer of biodynamic farming, gaining Demeter certification for its commitment to ecological and sustainable practices. Convinced that Alto Adige’s cool mountain slopes offer unparalleled conditions for cultivating Pinot Noir, Lageder’s team devotes great attention to this grape, aiming for wines that balance freshness, precision, and elegance. Vineyards lie at elevations between 370 and 520 meters (1,200–1,700 feet), where cooler microclimates and limestone-rich, glacial soils impart complexity and vibrancy to the wines, resulting in bottles that capture the essence of Alto Adige’s dramatic landscape.
Vineyard & Winemaking: Their Mimuèt Pinot Nero 2021 is an expression of this philosophy. Named after the Ladin phrase “to my taste,” Mimuèt reflects Lageder’s dedication to producing a Pinot Noir that speaks to his ideals of structure and subtlety. Grapes are picked at peak freshness to retain liveliness, then fermented with indigenous yeasts to preserve the wine’s natural character. Aging takes place over 12 months in a combination of stainless steel, large oak casks, and concrete, lending a gentle complexity while maintaining its delicate structure. Mimuèt’s refined notes of red berries, mineral, and spice showcase Lageder’s pursuit of balance and authenticity, making it a beautiful reflection of both the region and the family’s vision.
